The General Assembly of the European Forum for Urban Security took place on 7th June 2012 in Brussels. About 60 representatives of the network attended. During the morning session, Elizabeth Johnston, Executive Director of Efus, presented the key activities developed by Efus in 2011, as well as the 2011 budget. Then it was proceeded to the renewal of the Executive Committee. Five cities have joined it: Alexandroupolis (Greece), CA La Rochelle (France), Mannheim (Germany), Rotterdam (Netherlands), Sosnowiec (Poland). (See 2012 Executive Committee Members)

The rest of the day was dedicated to the preparation of the “Security, Democracy and Cities: The Future of Prevention” conference, organised by Efus in partnership with the cities of Aubervilliers and Saint-Denis, which will take place on 12th, 13th and 14th December 2012. Exchange and debates between participants allowed to lay the ground for the Manifesto that will be published at the end of the conference. Participants also discussed the themes that will be addressed at the conference through plenary sessions and in other ways such as study visits, round tables, training sessions, etc.
The day ended with a presentation by Philip Willekens, SPF Executive Director at the Belgian Interior Ministry, on the Week for Integral Security and the Belgian Crime Prevention Award, which was awarded the following day (read article here).
